Integral Energy Cup
Written by Mr Rasmussen

u10rugby
On Wednesday 17th June, 16 boys from years 3 and 4 attended the Integral Energy Rugby League knock out competition at Eschol Park. The boys had to compete in three pool games initially and needed to finish first or second in their group to progress. Our boys had 2 wins and a draw in their three games, which put them through to the quarterfinals. The boys managed to win, again, 26-4 against St. Thomas Moore and advanced into the semi finals. Unfortunately the team met a very good side in Harrington Park Public School and after a gallant effort were defeated 26 -0. Out of 16 public and catholic schools in the district, St Paul’s managed to finish equal 3rd. This, coupled with a display of fantastic sportsmanship, made it a worthwhile day for all.
Our thanks go to Mr. Sakowicz for his efforts in coaching the boys, and to all the parents for their support with training and on game day. Well done boys!!

Thank you to our staff and parents who ensured the day was such a success.

with photo and trophy
Isaac of Year 4 was announced winner of the Under 12 category in the Camden Area Heritage Photographic Competition. His work titled “Miss Davies Days” was a composition of artifacts collected from the discarded remnants of Miss Davies home in Exeter Street Camden where Isaac lived when he was first born. Isaac’s work along with those of all entrants will be on exhibition at the Camden Civic Centre from June 19 to July 10 from 9am – 5pm weekdays.
Photographer Paul Burke commented; “One measure of a good photograph is to look and wonder how it was taken (to put it simply). With this one I was trying to pull it apart as soon as I saw it, which is a compliment. It’s a lovely window into someone’s life. It’s happy - Miss Davies was obviously busy; it’s sad - maybe Miss Davies isn’t as busy as she used to be. It has strong composition; the depth of field is right; the lighting from the side lets you feel that Miss Davies is just beside you, working on something else…”
Isaac won a trophy which features an historic camera, $50 prize money and a $100 voucher for the Narellan Library Creative Studio. Isaac is pleased to say that his voucher will be utilised to enter the song writer’s competition in an effort to win instruments for the school. Take the time to go along and visit the exhibition to support Isaac and all the other photographers.

Confirmation

100_5001
Over the June long weekend a team effort resulted in a most successful Parish Confirmation celebration of five separate ceremonies. Camden is the fourth largest Parish in Australia and everything we do is understandably very big. The five liturgies were led by Bishop Peter Ingham, Father Michael and Father Mark. Each liturgy was extremely reverent and parents and students are to be commended on the way they participated in the liturgy. Approximately 208 students received the Gifts of the Holy Spirit during the Confirmation liturgies. Thank-you to all Sacramental associates who led the Parish groups, students and parents who prepared so well together, musicians and singers who led the liturgies, and staff from St Clare’s and St Pauls’ who assisted with the five liturgies.
A wonderful team effort.

Athletics Carnival

On Friday, June 5th we had our inaugural Athletics carnival at Campbelltown Athletics Centre. Due to the wet conditions leading up to the carnival, all students in Years 2-6 were unable to join us. However, the carnival proceeded for students who had elected to participate in “A Division” events. The venue was an outstanding success and planning has already commenced for next year! A special thank you is extended to Mr Michael, staff and parents who assisted at this carnival. It was a great team effort.
